Earth Day Week :)

Earth Day Week... What a title! But, it was true.. All week, we celebrated Earth Day at school!

We had a fabulous week. The kiddos really had a great time learning about litter bugs, neato bugs (which are the opposite of litter bugs!) recycling, and how many things we can do at home to save our Earth.

Monday, they kiddos painted a piece of card stock, with blue and green paint. We cut their handprints from construction paper on the fold so we could capture a heart inside the thumb and index finger. (That wasn't an easy task, I need to reread the instructions on that or watch the tutorial again!! :) (Okay, I admit, I didn't watch a tutorial to begin with and I didn't read any instructions, I did however see a picture of it on Pinterest! So I figured I'd eyeball it.. I will check out instructions or a tutorial next time, it was MUCH harder than I thought!)

Tuesday, we made a handprint heart, by painting both hands green and blue.  The second picture is how our table looks while doing crafts! :)

Wednesday, we had the kiddos paint a world. I forgot to take a picture of the actual craft, so I bingo dabbed this one, for the visual. We sang Happy Earth Day! :)

Thursday, we had the kiddos to color their "Earth" pictures. Earlier in the week and at the end of last week, we started taking "Lorax Mustache" pictures of the kiddos. We secretly (one by one) told the kiddos that The Lorax, wanted to save the trees and asked each of them what they would like to save if they could. Their answers were quite funny! This is one of our favorite crafts! :)

On Friday, we tried to finish up our Lorax pictures. (We didn't succeed, so we will have to totally finish up next week, because we wanted every single kiddo in our class to have one.)  For all that were at school on Friday, we did make some litter bugs to help them remember to not be one. Bugs are made from mini water bottles, birthday streamers (it's easier for them to poke in the bottle) and pipe cleaners. We choose to draw on the faces rather than using wiggle eyes, because we don't want the kiddos to pull them off and get choked. (The ridges in the water bottle make it easier for the pipe cleaners to stay in place.)

Next week, we will begin on Mother's Day surprises and use the week to catch up and try and finish up on some of the beginning of year projects. And enjoy (hopefully, awesome not rainy weather), outside!! It's hard to believe our school year is coming to an end in less than a month!!! There probably won't be any pictures next week, so we don't spoil anything for our Mommies!! :)

Many Blessings,
Sherry :)

Transportation

We are finally back at school from our Spring Break!!

I'm actually quite proud of myself, I am on time for my new post!

This week, we talked about Transportation!!  I even had time to write a couple original poems to go with the crafts!!!  All in all, I do believe it was a fantastic week!

We have also started on a project for next week and are trying to get pictures of Mommy's and Kiddos for a Mother's Day Craft! :)  In between all the crafts, stories, playtime, and lunch, we have been practicing for our "Precious Little Chapel Program"!

Monday, we had a small class, so we made Monster Trucks. The wheels were actual rubbings from a toy caterpillar tractor that we have in our room. The children picked whatever color they wanted for their truck, and we thought it would be fun to match the hubcaps to the trucks! ;) The Monster truck song, here, was adapted from another song. This, we have done before.

Tuesday, everyone made stop lights. They bingo dabbed the colors to the light. We talked about and played marching games to the color of the lights.

Wednesday, we had a listening craft. We told each child to color the windows or squares yellow, and the rest of the plane gray. For the most, they all listened quite well. Some even asked if the "big" one in front was a window! This one is the first original poem I wrote for the week.

Thursday, the kiddos painted trains with sparkle paint. This was the second original poem that was written this week.

Friday, we made cars. We let the children color them any way they chose. We had some mighty colorful cars!! This song, we have used before, it was found on the internet, only I don't remember where, Credit is still given to the original person that wrote it. :)

I certainly hope everyone to have a fabulous weekend. I know mine is going to be mighty busy. There is so much going on that I've been invited to, that I can't possibly do it all. Sometimes, I wish my popularity would extend over time and not hit all at once! :)

God Bless You All,
Sherry :)

Easter 1 & 2

We are well into Holy Week. Tomorrow is Good Friday. The day Jesus Christ died for our sins to give us a home in Glory Land!

I have a home up there, and couldn't be prouder. Now, I'm far from perfect, but, through Jesus, I am saved and will live in eternity if the Heaven!

I have decided to post all the Easter Crafts at once, instead of making two separate posts.

We have just finished up nine days of Easter.

I hope you can find one thing that you would be interested in.

The first two pictures are Bunny Cottontails. The body is a shoe print, and the face is a hand print (no thumb) The song is the famous Peter Cottontail with the name Peter being exchanged for a kiddo name. One can't forget a "cotton ball" tail!!

Then we have: Jelly Beans!! This was a listening craft, we had four jellybeans on one page and told them to only color one, the colors shown below. Most did an excellent job listening.

The following day, we started out with an egg shape, added the coins to the plastic egg to give it some weight. Cut the poems apart and mixed some pastel paint to end up with

This:  Painted Easter Eggs with an Easter Egg. (The concept is like marble painting) This poem is original written by me, just not this year.

Close up of the poem:

Then we started on our Bunny Bags. This will be used to send home the Easter Eggs after our Easter Egg Hunt. It will be filled with yummy treats inside plastic eggs and maybe a surprise or two. Each child in the classroom will make one of these. We also started taking some Easter Pictures to ensure we get everyone in the classroom!! (Remember, our kiddos come on different days)

On Friday, we made long legged chicks! Hand prints were the wings.

This past Monday, we made an Easter scene using sparkling handprints for the rising sun.

Tuesday, we dyed Easter Eggs and made a special little basket using a styrofoam cup and acrylic paint.

Thought I'd share the pictures that we took of each child.  Yes, that Princess Easter Bunny, is ME!! :)

Wednesday, Scripture Eggs. This is another listening craft. The kiddos were told to color the specific eggs the color mentioned in the egg.

Thursday, Our annual Easter Egg Hunt in our classroom. The weather was awesome. The children colored a bunny .. Another listening craft. All but one of our children have already turned three. We have chosen the listening crafts to get them prepared to move up to the three year old preschool classes.

As time grew closer for our Easter Egg Hunt, the children made some cute little bunny doughnuts. I do recommend using a little frosting to adhere the M&M's, for some of our kiddos pressed theirs in a little hard. The caused the doughnut to break apart. But, let me tell you... every single child in the class ate their doughnut!! :) We didn't have much waste on this one, like you do when you have cupcakes and all they do is lick the icing.

Next week, we are out of school for our Spring Break, however, in our area, we are actually out of school for the Master's Golf Tournament! I'm going to use the break to hopefully get caught up in some things!! Wish me luck!

May you Be Blessed,
Sherry :)

St. Patrick's Day and Weather

Oh my! I can tell it's the getting close to the end of the school year!! My posts are getting further in between!!

Sorry about that!! :)

It's been so long since I've posted, I have to actually THINK about what we did after Bugs!!

Thank Heaven's for Pictures!! Now I remember!! :)

We had a split week.. We did St. Patrick's Day for two days and weather for the remaining of the week.

For St. Patrick's Day, kiddos made the handprint pot of gold and for Tuesday, a shamrock hat so kiddos could wear hats to the parade.

For Weather, we had the kiddos paint a sunshine.
For Thursday, we made a rain cloud with rain with a special little song.
On Friday, everyone made a cloud man to predict weather, with sunshine and lightning hands, and raindrop feet!

We will have Easter Crafts for the following two weeks.

May you have a glorious day!
Sherry :)
