For this three day week, we decided to have a little summertime theme.

For Tuesday, we decided to try out an original idea (to my knowledge)!! I cut an oval from a sponge and used one of those round handled sponges and we created an ant. Sponge the circle and two ovals, all touching. We did this on white construction paper. Drew on the antenna and the legs then cut it out. I had purchased some "picnic" plates from the Dollar Tree. We glued the ant on the plate. (Actually, we put glue on the back of the ant and had the children glue it down where they wanted) With the ant being fairly big, we only did one. When it dried, we had the children place sticker eyes. The eyes gave each ant a personality of it's own!! This turned out adorable. (Even if some of my kiddos told their mom they made roaches!) I do need to add, that the package of plates that were purchased had there were 14 in the pack, when actually there were only 12. You may want to try and count the plates if you depend on a certain number. I did go ahead and purchase another package of plates from the Dollar Tree, since this is a seasonal thing to put away for next year. The craft (to my knowledge) is an original idea, but, the song is not.

On Wednesday, we hit the grill. We had the kiddos color their grill and pick out their favorite food that they like when Mommy or Daddy cooks on the grill. Grill and food pictures may be found on

For Thursday, we decided to make watermelon. Not two pieces were alike. We bingo dabbed the edge of the plate, then had the kiddos color in some red, then with black tempera paint, we made fingerprint seeds. I put together a little watermelon poem using a watermelon font and having the kiddos color the words. This poem is original!

Our last week of Summer Fun at school, will be next week. We won't have classes until after Labor Day in September. Next week, we will have an Ocean theme! Then I will lay quiet for a bit.

May you be filled with Blessings!!

Over in the Pond!!

We asked our kiddos what animal lived in a pond. After explaining what a pond was, they decided to go with fish. Well, we decided to step it up a notch and go a little further.

Tuesday, we made a "Rockin' Duck"... Literally, the way this duck was made with a paper plate, it rocked back and forth if it was 'gently' nudged. The kiddos loved it and wanted to make another on Wednesday!! :)  These ducks have so much personality!!

On Wednesday, we made a s-l-o-w poke turtle. The kiddos colored and bingo dabbed this cute little turtle. We did manage to embellish it with a couple cat tails! :)

Now, today, Thursday, we made fun frogs! The kiddos loved painting with sparkly green paint, then once the eyes and mouth was added, they couldn't stop playing with them!!! Our room is definitely 'fly' free. Heck, as much as those little tongues flew out, the city should be free of flies!! :)  They had a BLAST!

Next week, we will have some Summer Fun!! :)

Be Blessed! Sometimes, the smallest of thing, will count as a Blessing.
Enjoy your weekend!!

Blast Off!!

I know it's been a minute since I posted anything, but... in all reality, we have not been in school!!!

We had the week of the fourth off. (Hope everyone had a fabulous fourth!) With all the firecrackers and bottle rockets, we decided to head into space!! :)

Remember, our week only consists of three days. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I, personally will be glad to get back to school in the Fall for our full five day week!! :)

On Tuesday, we talked about the moon. My mom used to, every time we saw the moon, when I was a little girl recite the poem... I see the moon, the moon sees me. God Bless the moon, God Bless ME!
I thought that was more than appropriate to use for the first day of space week! I picked up some foam star stickers from the Dollar Tree and chose to use them in this craft. This happens to be my Granddaughter's craft, Since she is bigger, she waits until everyone in the classroom is finished with their crafts.. She finished off the package of stars. (I forgot to take my camera to school on this day!)

The second day, we made a rocket ship! We included a little poem on this.. and the children absolutely LOVED participating with this. Their favorite part was counting backwards from 10 and BLASTING OFF!! :) You won't believe it, but, again, I forgot my camera at school, so I am taking a picture of my Granddaughter's craft. The ones the children made had the rocket ship up and down as if it were blasting off, and the poem was on the back. Being 9, she had way more stickers than my little ones. They tend to get a little frustrated when the stars fold up and won't come off their fingers, so they used less sticker stars on their craft work.

The last day of space week, we used a rubber ball and painted our very own planets. This idea came from Pinterest. I used the Oh My God Font (Because inside the letters were planets, stars, and comets) The children named their planets. I love the mind of a two and three year old!! You do have to ask in secret and one at a time, or... all of them would be named the exact same thing!! :) Well, what do you know, I remembered my camera.. Thank goodness for I was able to get all the different names of their planets!! It's funny how pictures are so different... These were all posted on the same color blue construction paper!!! :)  The books we read were awesome. The "Stars! Stars! Stars!" book was a little more for their level. The other book was very informative and made for older kiddos. We picked a few pages from that book and mostly talked about the Earth. The second book, "Solar System" had realistic pictures as well.

Wishing each of you well.. Looking forward to another fun-filled week at school with our babies! The hugs, the smiles, the stories.. oh my, how in the world could you NOT enjoy these things!!??
