Minding Our P's and Q's!

This week was all about MANNERS!

We talk about inside voices everyday! But, this week, we went a little further.

Monday, we made two crafts. We talked a little about Christopher Columbus and how he rode on a big ship and looked through his telescope to find land. We began our Manners week with NOT chewing food with your mouth open! I cut food from a sales paper. :) We sang a song about Mealtime Manners! Ship patterns may be found at:

For Tuesday, we talked about interrupting people while they are talking isn't a nice thing to do. We told the kiddos they should be quiet as a little mouse, when someone is talking and how important it is for them to listen carefully what people might have to say. They painted this little mouse, that was found in a clip art book, and blown up just a little. Then we added the "Listen" Poem.

Wednesday, we were busy with our Please and Thank You's! We had the kiddos color the Please and Thank You, then we sang the please and thank you song. The font used for this is called LD Rounded.

On Thursday, we painted the kiddos hands, and turned the hand print into a bumblebee. We talked about how we should be kind, be polite, and be a good friend. The font here is clipz busybee.

For Friday, we made a little pumpkin patch. All the pumpkins in the pumpkin patch were nice and friendly to each other and used awesome manners. The pumpkins were created by painted the kiddos palms. The fonts used here are called: Ain't Nothing Fancy and LD Pumpkin

It's not easy finding crafts using manners. Some of these we had to create! For the next two weeks, we will have our Halloween Crafts!

Be Blessed until next time,
Sherry :)

Fire Safety Week!!

This week we had our annual Fire Safety Week! We even managed to do a few extra crafts!!

Monday: We made a Firetruck from shapes, circles, rectangles, and squares! We added Barney's Hurry Hurry Drive the Firetruck Song.

Tuesday: We made the Stop, Drop, Cover, and Roll T-Shirts. We dip yarn in red, orange, and yellow paint, then fold the shirt in half on top of the yarn to  make symmetrical fire prints. Then have the kiddos color the words. We did this one a little different than before. We also practice stopping, dropping, and covering our eyes while we roll.

Wednesday: This day, we did two crafts. We made fire with our hands by smearing red, orange, and yellow paint on to a piece of card stock, for durability. Added the words: Don't Hide Go Outside! Just before lunch, so we could enjoy them immediately after lunch, we made firetruck cookies. We used Graham Crackers for the base, covered with whipped vanilla frosting dyed red, Pretzels were added for the ladder and window. Vanilla Wafers were used for the wheels and I found some Black Forest Gummies that were Berry Flavored and we used that as the light.

Thursday: We made a Dalmatian Picture Holder and placed each child's picture as a firefighter under the dog. The spots were the children's fingerprints. The ears were shoes that were traced. One of our mom's graciously provided each child with a fire hat! We have an awesome class and are so Blessed with AWESOME parents!!

Friday: We made two crafts again today. We had nine children, so we had two simple crafts and still managed to get outside twice! :) We made the 911, by having the children scrunch up some red, orange and yellow streamer paper and place on the numbers. We made our own smoke detector by using a 6 inch paper plate and adding eyes and a nose. I found a smoke detector finger play years ago on the world wide web, and attached that to the back of the plate with a message to parents to change and/or check batteries in their home smoke detectors!

Next week we will have our Manners Theme!
May you be Blessed with a TERRIFIC Week! :)

This week, we roared, we played, we marched, and we had a lot fun!! :)

My kiddos loved the dinosaur crafts we made and couldn't wait to show their parents!! :)

On Monday, we had two crafts. We did make the dinosaur headband, but, since the kiddos didn't have much activity with it, we decided to let them paint up a dinosaur coloring sheet! We presented each child with their very own Dinosaur name!! :) Headbands were made from green construction paper, cut into strips and diamond shaped triangles. We used tape so it wouldn't hurt their heads.  The "spikes" were glued on at the fold of the diamond shape and again glued together from the tip of the diamond to form the spike!

On Tuesday, we had a roaring blast hatching our dinosaur and dancing to the Dino Diddy Ditty Dum Ditty Do Song!! :) The egg was  made from posterboard, and bingo dabbers. The baby dinosaur was colored by the kiddos.

For Wednesday, we had fun making Pterodactyls! These were made from a half regular sized paper plate. The pattern was found on There were many free patterns on this site!! We used tissue paper to cover the back of the plate.

On Thursday, we painted some fingertips and created some rainbow dinosaurs!! We marched around like Dinosaurs. One of our favorite Dinosaur Songs is "What Do You Think of That?" This is a Laurie Berkner Song!

For Friday, we traced the shoes of our children, and they were all able to create their very own dinosaurs! They used some shape stickers, they were able to choose if their dinosaur stood tall or had four legs and crawled on the ground. They also had to name their dinosaur and tell us what their dinosaur liked to eat! The kiddos also chose if their dinosaur had a curvy tail or a straitened tail. Every once in a while you run into technical difficulties. The one picture was turned, and shows turned in my pictures, however, it's showing up side ways, I'm not that savvy with this problem, so sorry about that!! :)

Next week, we will have Fire Safety week, then we will begin our Manners Theme! Getting ready to practice those Manners as we come to school on the last day of the month, in costume and visit each classroom, practicing our Manners as we receive treats and candy! :) The next couple weeks after, we will begin some holiday crafts!

Many Blessings, please count each of them, they surround you!
