Merry Christmas well into the New Year!

Well, Happy New Year!! It has been so busy around here, that I didn't even get a chance to blog our Christmas Items!!

I'm going to have to work on getting things posted on time!!

Here is what we did for Christmas for our Parents and kiddos starting from the Monday after Thanksgiving until December 18th.

We started out by rubber ball painting a candy cane. The candy cane was cut from poster board. Rubber ball painting is similar to marble painting, just with a rubber ball. I like the size of the rubber ball better than a marble. We then attached the "Legend of the Candy Cane".

Another craft we did was, plastic spoon snowman ornament. We did add the year, 2013 to the hat for a finished product. This is done by gluing cotton balls to the spoon handle, and drawing a face on the back of the spoon. We twisted up some red and green sparkle pipe cleaners for the scarf. The hanger is a gold sparkle pipe cleaner.

This is our version of the Magic Santa Key.  I use a cardboard key shape and have the kiddos decorate with stickers and attach the Magic Santa Key Poem.

We also made little boxes of LOVE. We had the kiddos blow a bunch of kisses in a little box that was purchased on the Wedding Aisle at the Dollar Tree.  We wrapped ribbons around the box and attached a little bow along with a poem ..This isn't the poem we used this year, and I'm sorry I forgot to take a picture, but I did find this one at: http://lisaauch.squidoo.com/a-special-christmas-gift   On the website you can get the general idea of what I'm talking about.

To:

This is a very special gift
That you can never see
The reason that it's special
It's just for you from me
Whenever you are lonely
Or when you're feeling blue
You only have to hold this
gift and know I think of you
You never can unwrap it
Please leave the ribbon tied
Just hold this box close to your heart
It's filled with love inside

From:

We painted each child's footprint onto white broadcloth.  Placed the footprint in an embroidery hoop. Then we turned the footprint into a manger with Baby Jesus. We wrote in Paint with a paint pen, Happy Birthday, Jesus. Hot glued some ribbon around the edge of the hoop and attached a shiny gold curly ribbon bow to represent the star.

We made little Santa Claus' with a cute little song attached. The kiddos loved making these and singing the song!! Sorry the song is sideways, no matter how I tried, it wouldn't turn. We used peach card stock for the face. Sticker eyes and red dot stickers for the nose. Cotton balls are used for the ball and rim of hat, and for Santa's beard!

Next, we made sure each child had their picture with a Santa Hat. I went to CVS and printed up mini prints, (there were two pictures to each 4x6 picture) Cut the picture into a circle to fit inside a plastic Pringles Lid. We had the children made a pattern with 1/2 inch red, green, and white, pom poms. (It takes five of each color to complete the circle.) I used a hole punch to make a small hole and added a pipe cleaner hook. (Ribbon will work better for the pipe cleaner hook didn't stay as a hook, I had to keep forming the shape) This is an original idea using the Pringles Lids to make this ornament. I love it and turns out very cute!!

Inside the reindeer bag is reindeer food. We just mixed some cake sprinkles, with oatmeal, and Christmas Captain Crunch Cereal found at Wal-Mart.

We had donated by one of our parents the cute little green box clip. We weren't sure what to do with it since we had already had a picture craft and took a picture for our bulletin board. We decided to ask the kiddos how to make Christmas Cookies!! Their recipes were AWESOME! This was a very cute idea. I found the cute printed cards at Dollar General while browsing. They were 20 for $1.00. On the back of the card I found a "real" Christmas Cookie recipe and attached it to the back. The bottom picture is a close up of the "recipe". We had some mighty interesting little recipes from some awesome little Chefs!!!

The hoops, the reindeer food, ornaments, and recipes were all sent home to Parent's the day of our Christmas Party.  This was on a Monday.  The next two days of school we had a lot of fun. On Tuesday,
we made reindeer lollipops!! We had a little "Reindeer On The Shelf" in our class. The reindeer would travel back to the North Pole to visit Santa after school and return back to school in a different little hiding spot. Our reindeer's name was Buzzle. When making the lollipop reindeer, they had a choice to make Buzzle or Rudolph! It was probably a half and half mix. The kiddos colored the reindeer, added sticker eyes for personality, we cut the circle out for the nose and taped the lollipop to the back! This was VERY cute!! (We used Mini Tootsie Pops)

Our last day of school, we make the "Legend of the Christmas Pickle" Ornaments.  We had the kiddos paint a pickle made from card stock. We attached the tradition to the pickle to hang on the tree! I have since found a simpler poem to use for the pickle ornament!! :)  (Next Year!!)

This concludes our Christmas Season for the year 2013. Can't wait to see some new stuff to do for 2014!!
I do hope your Christmas was one of the best!! May you all have a very prosperous and happy new year!!
I am so ready to be off Christmas Break and back in my classroom!! We will have New Year crafts the first week back to school, which will now be, this Monday coming up, January 6th!! (Today this blog was done on Friday, Jan. 3)

Blessings to all!!
Sherry :)
