Dental Health!

This week we talked about Dental Health!

We talked how important it was to brush all the sugar bugs from your teeth.  That it's important to have mommy and daddy help floss and brush teeth.  We even talked about one day how we would get wiggly teeth and that the tooth fairy may pay a visit!  Everyone was able to get a free toothbrush and toothpaste packet that some of the teachers at school get in the mail from the Colgate Company!

We had some awesome crafts!

Monday, there was no school for President's Day!

Tuesday, we had the kiddos bingo dab some big bright lips.  Then we glued the lips onto a piece of construction paper.  We then had the kiddos make some fingerprint teeth! We included a little banner that read Brush for a Bright Smile!

For Wednesday, we made one of my original ideas! A long time ago, I found this cute little bug pattern. It looked like a bug, but wasn't very realistic.  I made a copy of it to use for something.  Then I decided to copy the little bug onto yellow paper and glue it on a white tooth.  My idea was to 'brush' away the sugar bugs. Now, we glue three "sugar bugs" onto a white tooth and have the kiddos use toothbrushes dipped in white paint and toothpaste to rid the tooth of sugar bugs!! Then they like to march around the room, chanting, "No More Sugar Bugs!" This is an awesome craft and the kids really love doing it.  The smell of toothpaste mixed with white paint, gives a refreshing smell to the craft as well!!

Thursday, we decided to use a coloring sheet that was given to us by the young two year old teacher.  I think she may have found it on the dltk site!  Not real sure on that!  We cut apart the sheet and had the kiddos glue down the parts and created a "happy" tooth to put beside the toothpaste and toothbrush picture! We thought it looked better this way than just coloring the paper. The song was included on the color page.

Friday, we found a tooth with a big happy face on it.  We had the children glue cotton balls around the edge of the tooth and to color the nose.  We added a song that was sung to the tune of  "Where Is Thumbkin?"
It looks like the tooth has a Santa Beard!! :)

These were easy and simple crafts for the kiddos to do.  We were able to pack a lot into our day and still have the joy for the kids to bring something home!

Here is a picture of the toothbrush kit that was mailed out free from the Colgate Company! It included a DVD, a book to read for home and school, and a little sealed package with a toothbrush and toothpaste for all the kiddos!!  Awesome package for FREE!!  Sometimes you can sign up for your free package too, by going to the Colgate page and clicking on the Bright Smiles Bright Future button.  The kit is delivered to your home or place of work for FREE!! You don't even have to pay for shipping and handling!

For the next two weeks, since there is soooo many things to do, we are going to focus on Dr. Seuss.  We wanted to make sure we cover his birthday, which is March 2nd.

Enjoy your weekend! Enjoy your week!
Many Blessings and Thank you for visiting my blog!

More Valentines Plus

There was more than plenty to celebrate during the week of Valentine's Day!

We started our Monday morning at school, coloring the bears that would go on our Valentine Holder Bags.
Sunday, of this week, was also, the Chinese New Year.  We let the kiddos paint up some large craft sticks.  I found online a picture of the Chinese "Luck" Symbol.  I copied the picture four times onto a piece of copy paper. (I don't like to waste space and our copies are limited at school, the more I can get on one page, the better!) I cut the picture out, had the children help glue down the sticks and everyone got to take home a piece of good luck!

For Tuesday, we continued to have the children color their bears for their valentine holders.  We also decided to pull out some feathers and make some Mardi Gras Masks! Most of the kiddos thought they were super hero masks! (This year, our boys are really into the super hero scene) We were able to take pictures of everyone in their masks for the end of the year!

On Wednesday, we finished up the coloring for the bags. (We have 21 children, and they come on different days! By today, we only had a couple that had to finish up their coloring!) I did have to take a few pictures so we could also finish up our parent picture gift.  We used this day to get a lot of laminating and catching up on everything for our party on Thursday!

Thursday, we did have to laminate about four hearts to finish up our parent gift. We also wrapped some candy kiss roses that the younger two year old teacher surprised our class with as an addition to our heart parent gift.  Everything was completed and we had a very successful Valentine's Party!! We also made some bookmarks for a Senior Group that meets where we work.  The children painted the bookmark, then bingo dabbed the heart.  We placed the child's picture in the middle.  We used a valentine's table cloth for a back drop for the picture.  Wrote: Forever In Your Heart! Under the picture: XOXOXOXOX .. By the time we finished our party, everyone had an awesome bag that was completely overflowing with valentines!! We enjoyed heart shaped turkey and cheese sandwiches along with heart shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, juice boxes, grapes and strawberries for our party!

Friday, we were able to make the star, You are "cent-sational"! Necklaces from Pinterest! We did hot glue the pennies on the star and the ribbon bow.  The kiddos were able to glue the stars together and glue the heart onto the stars. They also strung the yarn through the star holes of the necklace.  We also took more pictures of the kiddos wearing their necklaces for the end of the year picture cd!

We got a lot accomplished during the week.  Next week, we will look forward to a dental health unit!!

This week, we started our Valentine's Theme.

There are so many cute ideas out there... I wish we could do them all, but, we have to squeeze in as much as we can in the two week period I've allowed.  :)

Monday, we made heart love bugs.  We cut the hearts out and had the children glue the hearts down.  They added the sticker eyes for personality.  Heart stickers were added to the wings.  We started the week simple.

Tuesday, We cut out a lacy heart and the kiddos bingo dab the inside.  We backed it with construction paper.

Wednesday, we had fun with dots and hand prints.  The page was created by Shelley's poem was created to use two hand prints. I changed the words to the poem to use only one hand print!

Thursday, we traced each kiddos hand, cut them out from peach paper.  The children painted the hearts. Again, backing the heart with construction paper.  We had a great time learning to say, "I love you!" with our hands!

Friday, we made the John 3:16 Valentine.  I printed up the verse.  I found a lacy heart in my February notebook.  We had the kiddos paint the heart, we cut it out. We backed the heart with construction paper for durability.  We had the kiddos glue the verse in the middle of the heart.  We felt it needed just a little something added, so we glitter glued each heart in the "lacy" part of the heart with red and silver glitter glue.

Next week, we will continue with our Valentine Crafts. We may sneak in a double craft on Monday, for Sunday is the Chinese New Year and we may touch that.  With the following Monday being President's Day, we may do a President's Craft on Friday after Valentine's Day.

Blessings to a great week!!

Super Week!!

We went with the program.. and went with a Super Bowl Week at school!

I have found the most fabulous website for NFC and AFC Football Helmets!
They have listed on this site, every football helmet for the NFL AND the colors
each helmet is suppose to be! It's AWESOME!!

It's honestly the best that I've ever seen! I've been using this page for a few years now with
our Super Bowl Theme!!

For Monday, we had each child pick their favorite team! Then we had them color in the football helmets! They did a fantastic job listening as to where to put what color!! I made my sheet using Microsoft Works.
We made a list of who picked what team, and for the rest of the week, their specific craft was geared towards that particular team!! It requires a little work, but, it's not so bad, we have found what works for us to keep it as simple as possible!!

For Tuesday, we had the kiddos bingo dab the football and then we painted their handprints as if they were catching the football.  The idea was on Pinterest, we just tweaked it a little for our classroom!

On Wednesday, we made the famous pennant.  This was cut from card stock and painted by the kiddos.  I printed up the words using some football fonts that I've collected through the years.  We kept this one pretty simple!!

Thursday, was the class favorite!! We made giant number 1's.  The back has a strip of poster board to the hand can slip inside.  The kiddos really loved the 1's!  Several students left school saying, "We're number one! We're number one!" Mommy's even reported on Friday, some of the kiddos woke up still saying it!! We did take each child's picture holding up their number one! They painted the number one hand, either purple for the Ravens or Gold for the 49'ers.  Then we had the kiddos bingo dab their team using some football letters.  In a "Team" font, I typed up I'm number one on God's Team! They painted these using the opposing colors to the Purple and Gold.  This was such a huge hit, that we tried to make sure everyone got a number one, which meant carrying over our craft for Friday!!

On Friday, we caught the extra five kiddos up on their number ones. (It was suppose to be 8 kiddos but 3 didn't show up!) Then we chose to stamp a football, fingerpaint and color a bigger helmet picture, and Add a poem that Melissa and I wrote last year, just changing what needed to be changed for this year.  The poem reads: The Super Bowl is the big game. To New Orleans they will fly on a plane. The (Baltimore Ravens or San Francisco 49'ers) is who will get it done. Way to go! Football is so much fun!!

All in all, it was a huge success!!  For the next two weeks, we will be all about some Valentines!!

God Bless You All!
